Frascati, July 3-11, 2016

By now a tradition, the General Curia organized a week of formation for the new provincial ministers and custodes. This time for formation, experienced in our friary in Frascati each year, was conceived as a support for the service of those who are called to animate and serve the brothers. Beyond the fourteen new ministers and custodes, the General Minister and brother General Councilors were also present at the meeting. The most important parts of the meeting were listening to the various speakers, work in groups, and sharing of personal experiences. The focus was on the tasks proper to ministers, of their service of animation, of the fraternal economy, and of fraternal collaboration between circumscriptions. The brothers of the Office of the General Procurator presented on the canonical and juridical side of how to manage and deal with the most common situations that ministers have to face. The presentations of the work of the various offices and services of the General Curia were very interesting. The participants’ questions and the reference to the concrete situations of the participants were very helpful in arriving at a deeper understanding of the various topics. Many of those present had a chance to speak personally with the General Minister. The purpose of the whole meeting is for the General Minister and his Council to let the new ministers know of their fraternal availability to them as a support in their service, by means of the offices and services of the General Curia.

The pilgrimage to Assisi allowed the participants to return to the sources of our charism. A peaceful, prayerful mood, the wonderful hospitality of the fraternity of Frascati, the atmosphere of welcome and of mutual collaboration—these were the qualities that fostered the success of the meeting.

We send our hope to the new ministers that they live their service in awareness of the call to give the best of themselves to the brothers.
