New Capuchin Missionary Presence in Bangladesh

On March 17, 2024, a new Capuchin missionary presence began in Bangladesh. We are now in 114 countries around the world.
The mission was initiated by two friars: Brother Pauly Madasery and Brother Lenin Chakramakkil, both from St. Thomas Province in Kerala, India.
They assumed the pastoral care of a parish in the northern part of the country in the Diocese of Dinajpur. Khalisha Parish, in addition to the main community, has 18 rural communities with many pastoral challenges and needs; there are 350 Catholic families from different tribes, mainly Oraon, Santhali and Mahali.
In addition, our presence in Bangladesh will aim to assist two monasteries of the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, a community aggregated to our Capuchin Order. We are grateful to the Province of St. Thomas for being open to taking on this mission and we thank the two friars who made themselves available to be missionaries, to learn new languages and experience new cultures. We pray that God will bless this new presence of our Capuchin charism and that soon the fraternity will be blessed with more brothers.
May they have a genuine experience as missionaries as they work with the local Church by living our fraternal live as contemplative Minorites. May God continue to make our Order grow in India.
