The Social Theater for Healing the Wounds of War
- Published in Other news items
During the second week of August 2022, the Capuchin Office for Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation, together with its OFM Conv counterpart, brought hope to refugee children through the use of theater. The activity took place in Legnica, Poland, where there is a large number of people – including many children – who are refugees due to the war in Ukraine. At this time, the JPIC office together with the “Capuchin Social Theater”, an organization coordinated by Br. Stefano Luca OFMCap, produced a program of theoretical education by way of the theatrical arts to help heal the psychological and social wounds due to war that they have experienced. In addition, an intense period of training was conducted together with a group of young Ukrainian artists to organize a network that will together work toward continually bringing hope by way of theater.
