Meeting of the Capuchins of Europe

In the shadow of the Marian Shrine of Jasna Góra in Częstochowa (Poland), the Capuchin Friars Minor of Europe met from 11 to 16 October 2021.
The meeting was entitled: "The Capuchins in Europe. The Dream of Fraternity" and it brought together 90 major superiors (i.e. Provincial Ministers, Custodians and Delegates) from all over Europe, as well as from Turkey and Lebanon. Also participating were members of the General Council, friars responsible for formation throughout Europe, and several of the brothers from the General Curia. The friars spent time focusing on the current identity of the Capuchins in Europe and considering the challenges posed throughout the continent -- not only for the Capuchins, but for the Church as a whole. There were numerous presentations by guest speakers: Capuchins, Friars Minor, a Capuchin Poor Clare and laity. Most of the reports were presented in person, while three took place online. Afternoons were partially reserved for group work, where participants could explore and consider more deeply the topics discussed.
Interspersed were also periods of prayer, including daily Eucharist (also celebrated twice in the chapel of the miraculous picture in Jasna Góra) and the liturgy of the hours.
As always, time set aside for leisure and informal conversation apart from the whole were also opportunities for meaningful exchange.

- Challenges of the new evangelization in Europe
- Updating the Capuchin structures in Europe
- The St. Lawrence of Brindisi Project
- Initial formation of the Capuchins in Europe
- Youth and vocation ministry in Europe
